Taking your own boat past the Doge’s Palace in Venice is an amazing experience. Our trip started in Casier, went down the Sile River to the lagoon and Venice, then up the Brenta to Padua. Some of the fleet got lost in the lagoon, but they eventually caught up before we hit the Brenta. The 9/11 memorial in Padua was right next to our moorings, providing a dramatic backdrop. The Scrovegni Chapel was across the street, and we were able to get in to see Giotto’s amazing frescoes. Reversing course, we avoided losing anyone on the way back, stopping for another night at the island of Burano. A beautiful trip and a great bunch of people!
